Who is the Children and Young People’s Strategic Officer?
Pauline Gerrard’s role as Children and Young People’s Strategic Officer (CYPSO) is to represent the views of the voluntary sector and to promote partnership
working.
The voluntary sector is a key partner at strategic level in the development of the new single system approach to children’s services in Aberdeen. This means the CYPSO ensures the voluntary sector fully engages in every opportunity to be involved in the planning, preparation and delivery of integrated services in for Children, Young People and Families.
To ensure her position is purposeful, it is essential that the voluntary sector is clear about the role they play within Children and Young People’s Services in Aberdeen City.

Why does she do it?
For Scotland's Children set out a strategic vision for the country which is about ensuring a single system of service for children, young people and their families. This means the sharing of information between agencies, a commitment to improve services and children's services working together. This document highlighted the expertise of the voluntary sector with regard to children's services and also the important role they need to play in this process of change.
For Aberdeen’s Children is the local document that all sectors are working in partnership toward achieving, to ensure the needs of Aberdeen’s children are met.
