Wendy Churcher joined Aberdeen Council of Voluntary Organisations in January 2011 as the Alcohol and Drugs Partnership (ADP) Information / Service User and Carer Officer.

Wendy stated “A key area of my work will involve developing information systems and processes to help overcome barriers to communication and engagement within the Aberdeen Alcohol and Drug Partnership and associated stakeholder groups especially with service users and carer support groups.

Wendy Churcher, ADP Officer

(01224) 686056

Previously I have gained valuable experience working in various settings in both local government and the voluntary sector over several years. My experience includes housing management, community safety, environmental health, substance misuse counselling, tackling domestic abuse as well as undertaking a range of cross-cutting development project work.

I will be organising both quarterly newsletters and regular e-bulletins so please contact me if you have an article or a burning issue you would like to be featured in a future issue; if you want to become involved in the production of these or future new types of ways to communicate with people in Aberdeen on alcohol and drug issues (watch this space!) or if you want to be put on the circulation list for any of these news items – I would be really happy to hear from you and will ensure you are kept updated.

I will also be starting a mapping exercise of useful links to put together a resource type directory to provide details of different types of support available relating to alcohol & drug issues which I hope will be particularly useful for local service users and carers. I would be grateful for any useful contacts out there to let me know who you are and what you do.

I am looking forward to this new challenge and hope to further build on what has been achieved to date by working together with you to achieve as much as possible on developing effective communication, engagement and involvement relating to alcohol and drug issues in Aberdeen.”
