Station House Media Unit or SHMU (pronounced shmoo) is a dynamic Community Media Unit that supports residents in the six regeneration areas of North & Central Aberdeen in radio production. As a community-managed, needs-led organisation, SHMU’s mission is to support its communities to reclaim the media.

SHMU fm broadcasts a variety of issue-based, music and community programming on 99.8FM. SHMU fm offers training and support to volunteers and organisations so they can produce and present their own radio shows.

Aberdeen Volunteer Centre now has a Monthly Scheduled Programme Called ‘So Why Don’t You ……Just Volunteer !’ looking at the world of volunteers, volunteering and the Voluntary Sector in general.  The Show is hosted by Rod McDermid from Aberdeen Volunteer Centre with regular studio guests  - Sandy Mathers (ACVO) and Mike Melvin (Aberdeen Volunteer Centre).

The Programme is in a magazine format with news, views, information, invited guests plus music.  You can listen live to the monthly Monday show on 99.8fm or online!
